Kingstown Charlie (HWSD N/N)- At Stud

Charlie was purchased as a yearling firstly on the basis of his pedigree, but also on his superb movement. His immediate ancestors were Clifden winners or closely related to winners, and he has matured into a most impressive animal. He has the most superb temperament which he is passing on to his progeny, and although he is overheight, is unmistakenly of true Connemara type; his pure-bred youngstock are maturing at around 143 cm. Charlie appears to be a "hard", homozygous grey. He
is at stud, and runs with his mares at our discretion. Charlie has been tested and is negative for HWSD.

Gentle Match (HWSD N/N)-
At Stud

Hal was bought unseen from Ireland on his superb pedigree - Frederiksminde Hazy Match x Gentle Wren, who was a consistent winner at Clifden. He took some time to settle to adult life, but is now the most mannerly of stallions. With a wonderful front, and true straight action, he is an ideal cross for the plainer mare. Born bay, he is a "hard" colour but NOT a homozygous grey.

He is currently at stud on loan in South Wales and when at home runs with his mares at our discretion. Gentle Match has been tested and is negative for HWSD.

Bodenpark Kilbrew

Kilbrew or Bodie, was the stud's first loan stallion, due to the kindness of Naomi Barrett, his owner. He proved easy to handle and sired several foals before returning north. His most succesful progeny was Woodbank Lyric ex Hillymead Lullaby, now a succesful ridden pony. Bodie was used by the stud again, when Ballyconneely Beauty visited him on her journey south from Winsome Aird's - the result was Woodbank Bounty.

Pilgrims Excaliber

Junior, as he is known at home, was a prolific sire of workers, and was chosen as a mate for Woodbank Silver Cirrus. The resulting gelding, Woodbank Merlin, has gone on to be a successful ridden pony.

Fly the Last Flute

William won the yearling championship at the BCPS in-hand show, and was offered on loan to the stud by his breeders James and Elaine Tomlinson on condition he passed his colt inspection. This he duly did and stayed at Woodbank for two seasons.
As a gelding, with Sandra Burton, he went on to win Best M. and M. All Breeds at Olympia 2013 .He sired Woodbank Smokey Sam, who competed at Olympia in 2014 and has qualified for RIHS and HOYS 2015 and Woodbank Chorus, retained by us as a future broodmare.

Heather's Dino

Dino joined the stud through the kindness of Lesley Barnett-Mason. He was a stallon of great bone and substance with a delightful temperament. During the two seasons he was at the stud here he sired a handful of progeny including Woodbank Madrigal and Woodbank Silver Star, both promising ridden ponies.

Oxenholm Matador

Matador was chosen as a mate for Sydserff Silver Maple II on the basis of his all-round performance record and his old-fashoned breeding. Their gelding, Woodbank Silver Sol has proved to be a versatile pony,  excelling at Dressage and under side saddle.
